Welcome to the wonderful world of Eilatan!
After selling their 40 Store Chain of casual apparel/sunglass special stores, Pacific Eyes & T’s and Beyond The Beach, Sally and Dan Goodman looked to begin a new kind of retail store.
Certain criteria were established: First it must be a true “labor of love;” second it must be a personal expression of their unique tastes and talents; third it must be a concept which they could and would happily involve themselves in the daily detail; and fourth it must be a unique concept in which they could express their creative energies.
Utilizing all of their skills and experiences gained from buying and Senior Executive positions they held with Nordstrom, Federated Department Stores, The Gap and Allied Department Stores the Goodmans spent a year in research.
All of this led back to Sally’s closet, where it was obvious that she was a true shoe-aholic. After researching the retail shoe industry, they realized that there was a need for a unique kind of shoe store with an assortment based on “special resources and designers” normally found in boutique clothing stores, and normally sought after by customers with an exceptional sense of style.
Hundreds of names were considered. None were unique or personal enough. The answer came from Dan’s joy in driving their daughter, Natalie, to Elementary School and saying funny words backwards…..Natalie….Eilatan….it had a special sound, and a very special meaning.
After that, it was searching world wide markets so Eilatan would offer the “coolest, hippest, most amazing shoe selection anywhere” one which represented Sally’s incredible fashion sense. Eilatan is NOT for everyone. It IS for shoe lovers ONLY!!! Whether you are 13 or 63, it’s more a matter of attitude than anything else. One thing for sure, you will not see yourself “coming and going” with shoes from Eilatan.
In 2003 the Goodman’s opened Eilatan in the Irvine Spectrum in Orange County, California, and in 2004 they opened another unit in the Beverly Center in the Hollywood/Beverly Hills area of Los Angeles. The tremendous success of these stores and the constant requests coming from worldwide visitors let the Goodmans to creating this exciting website in 2005.
Once again...
